We arrived in Hangzhou and settled into our hotel (The Zhejang Xizi Hotel - supposedly a place Chairman Mao had liked to stay). As evening approached, everyone was feeling like walking around so we walked to dinner and Ice Cream. West Lake is simply beautiful. The lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides, and a small shopping district on the other. Hotels and parks dot the shoreline and it is very picturesque. I mounted my 70-200 but had to hand hold it most of the time due to the crowds.
